Argh! When will the torture end? Come on CBS…
This show is so shite that I now enjoy seeing how annoyed I get whenever I watch an episode of it. For those of you unfamiliar, my love of CSI: Cyber is massive. Oh so incredibly massive that I can’t manage to find anything worse. Well, there’s Sense8, and now, Shadow Hunters. Ahh… bad TV, you really do love making them.
To be honest, I have such low expectations on this show whenever I tune in, that it surprised me that it still fails to deliver.
Let’s ignore for one moment that the script is stiff and unnatural, and everyone just seems as though they can’t quite act, and the graphics annoying. Oh wait, that’s essentially the entire series.
I don’t know what the show developers are going for, they’re now showing GUIs on screen to show you what’s being typed and happening, because, hey, nothing’s more exciting than code and text messages. And for those of you who aren’t tech nerds, a GUI is a graphic user interface, which is essential the bit of a program that you see on screen, whether it be a test box or some kind of web browser or pop up program.
I do feel like we’re getting more educated with this show, but at the same time, educated badly. I am no tech expert, far from it, I’m the person that breaks it. Is it ahead of its time? Is that it? Am I just a fuddy duddy who doesn’t get where the world is going? I don’t know, it’s no Gattaca in my opinion.
The stupidity of these incredibly intelligent people also frustrates the hell out of me. In Going Viral, the most obvious thing in this episode is the announcement of “9-1-1, what is your emergency?” is the most robotic voice. Do you not have ears? It’s clear that it’s a recording, and it’s clear that it’s mechanic. Come on.
I wonder whether or not I can make it through an entire episode, and I’ve decided, I can’t. This show is just bad. There’s nothing about it that makes me want to stay tuned. Not even Ted Danson. The Cheers man isn’t enough to make this show enjoyable.
The Medium lady had lost me in the first series as Avery Ryan. And Dawson, well, I just don’t care for Dawson anymore. Dawson basically lost me when Joey hooked up with Pacey.
Cyber is the worst in the CSI franchise. I never thought that anything could be more annoying than the weirdness of how Horatio would do the victim summary at the end of an episode. It was just creepy how he would remove his sunglasses and talk to people and then put his glasses back on.
This show is so stupid, on so many levels.
Leo, the villain in this episode is meticulous at recreating crimes, and yet, his third crime is going to be significantly different from the past. There are three to choose from, he wouldn’t choose the one crime that is so different and not possible to recreate. This is where I give them the proverbial eye-roll.
The only thing endearing about this show? It’s Ted Danson. It’s as simple as that, he’s a very endearing actor who has a lot of good will.
Do I want this series to die? The answer is a resounding yes. It’s utter trash. But, do I want to see Ted Danson? Of course I do. I would love to see him in a half-hour dramedy, where he’s the grandfather raising young children who have been left to him by his late son. It’s the proverbial fish out of water scenario with some cute kids and massive generational gaps. A show full of nice family moments and lessons for parents, children and grandparents.
Rating: 4/10, the plotlines are weak, the baddies are sub-par in comparison to the villains/criminals in the others franchises. The leads are also weaker and lack chemistry with each other.
See it again: Don’t care, I gave up in Season 1, and have no desire to go back.
Worth my time: Definitely not, this series is only educational for those who are curious what bad dialogue actually is.
Talking points: trying to find a tech expert who will be able to comment on the technological revelation on the show. And basically laughing over how stupid some of technological reveals are.
Annoyance factor: 2/10, I know what I’m getting myself into now. It’s all expected, and I’ve no-one to blame but myself really for watching another episode.
