CON MAN: FIREFLY CAST REUNITE!

Woohoo!!!!!!

Some of the cast members from Firefly are reuniting for a soon to be released Vimeo series called Con Man.  And if you’re not already sold and excited, let me reeve you up.

Firefly is one of the best TV series we’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing.  It’s witty, it’s fun, futuristic and totally wild.  It’s cowboys in space!  And if you ask anyone who’s ever seen it, it is the one show which they all wish had more seasons.  Fox cancelled what could, nay, should have been the best sci-fi series ever.  It would have eventually kicked Star Trek’s butt.

Joss Whedon did bring the cast and crew back together for the movie version of the show, wrapping it up quite nicely for fans and new viewers out there.  I was a new viewer when I went to see Serenity all those years ago.

It was more than enough for me to go hunting for the Firefly DVDs.  And it is a series which I continue to recommend to people to this day.  If you haven’t watched it yet, please do.  It is well and truly worth your time.

The cast of Firefly have moved on, some more successfully than others.  But they all have one thing in common, their love of the days when they worked on Firefly.  Nathan Fillion (Castle), arguably the most successful of the cast, compares every job he gets to Firefly.

Alan Tudyk (Suburgatory, Doll House) has now written a new series loosely based on… well, them and their lives after Firefly being unceremoniously cancelled by Fox.  Fox (ominous music) you have a lot to answer for, you also cancelled Surviving Jack, one of my favourite shows from the 2014 season, I loath you Fox.

Alan and Nathan got together and have now raised over $3.1m (USD) to start filming Con Man.  That’s right, they raised over $3.1m, this shows you how much people want these guys together again.  Take note Fox.

The premise of Con Man is very similar to that of Galaxy Quest, well, the first 15 minutes of it anyway.  Wray Nerely (Tudyk) is now a washed up actor who does the comic book circuit, whilst his much more successful best friend Jack More (Fillion) is a successful movie star.  Con Man follows Wray on his day to day life, and if anything the teaser is to go by, it will be funny and awkward.  Having a fan ask you for your autograph as you’re trying to do a pooh in a public toilet is never fun, but it is funny.

They have started filming the series in June 2015, so, all we can do now is wait for the creative process to come to fruition and enjoy these watching these guys together again on Vimeo.

I may just be too much of a Firefly lover and common sense has gone out the window, don’t worry, you will be too once you see it.  Trust me, it is a must see if you’re new to it, and it turns out, when you rewatch it, it’s still pretty fantastic.

How excited are you at the prospect of The Captain reuniting with his pilot, right hand woman and doctor?
